How to Install the Claude Marketing Plugin from Anthropic (2026)

Helly16 August 2026

To install the Claude marketing plugin, run claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins, then claude plugin install marketing@knowledge-work-plugins. It is a free, Apache-2.0 plugin from Anthropic that adds seven marketing slash commands and connectors for tools such as HubSpot, Klaviyo and Ahrefs. The plugin costs nothing, but you still need access to Claude Code or Cowork and accounts for any tools you connect.

How do you install the Claude marketing plugin?

Installation takes two commands in Claude Code. First add Anthropic's plugin marketplace, then install the marketing plugin from it.

claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins

claude plugin install marketing@knowledge-work-plugins

Then start a Claude session and type a slash to check that commands such as /draft-content appear. The plugin is designed primarily for Cowork, Anthropic's desktop app, and works in Claude Code too. The repository's root README says Cowork users can also install plugins from claude.com/plugins.

One warning if you follow older tutorials. Until 21 September 2026, the per-plugin READMEs told readers to run claude plugins add knowledge-work-plugins/<name>, which is not a Claude Code command. Anthropic fixed it to the two-step install above, so use that.

What is inside the Claude marketing plugin?

The marketing plugin (version 1.2.0 at the time of writing) offers seven commands you type:

  • /draft-content: blog posts, social posts, newsletters, landing pages, press releases and case studies
  • /campaign-plan: objectives, channels, content calendar and success metrics
  • /brand-review: checks copy against your voice, style guide and messaging pillars
  • /competitive-brief: positioning and messaging comparison
  • /performance-report: key metrics, trends and optimisation suggestions
  • /seo-audit: keyword research, on-page analysis, content gaps and technical checks
  • /email-sequence: nurture, onboarding and drip sequences

The README also lists five background skills: content-creation, campaign-planning, brand-voice, competitive-analysis and performance-analytics. The repository does not fully match that list. Anthropic migrated commands to skills in March 2026, and the marketing folder now holds eight skill folders: the seven commands above plus content-creation, which Claude uses automatically. The other four named skills have no folder of their own. Treat the README's skill table as approximate and read the SKILL.md files to see what each command actually does.

Which tools does the plugin connect to?

The plugin reaches your tools through MCP, the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for linking AI assistants to external software. The README lists ten connectors: Slack, Canva, Figma, HubSpot, Amplitude, Notion, Ahrefs, Similarweb, Klaviyo and Supermetrics. The plugin's .mcp.json file also includes Google Calendar and Gmail entries.

The plugin is tool-agnostic: its files describe categories such as "SEO" or "email marketing", and the repository's CONNECTORS.md lists alternatives like Semrush and Mailchimp. It uses the same protocol as our Claude and Higgsfield MCP workflow for product videos. If your team designs in Canva or Figma, see our guide to AI design tools for marketers.

Why should you set up brand voice first?

Without a brand voice, output stays generic. The README tells you to configure brand voice, style guide and target personas "in a local settings file", but it does not name the file or show its format. Without it, /draft-content asks whether you have guidelines or falls back to a neutral professional tone, and /brand-review asks for your guidelines or gives a general review.

In practice, paste your style guide when the command asks, and save the voice rules you want reused. The same repository also contains a separate, partner-built brand-voice plugin from Tribe AI with a brand-voice.local.md template. It is a different plugin, so read its README before relying on it.

What should a business owner check before using it?

The plugin is useful, but it connects an AI model to customer and campaign data. Weigh these points first.

  • Data access: Connecting HubSpot or Klaviyo can expose contact data, which is personal data under GDPR. Grant the narrowest access each connector allows, start with read-only use where possible, and test on non-production data before touching live lists.
  • Human approval: Never let generated copy be sent or published without review. /brand-review screens for unsubstantiated claims, but it is a check, not a guarantee, and a generic voice is the more likely failure.
  • Hidden costs: The plugin is free; Claude access and connected tools such as Ahrefs, HubSpot, Klaviyo and Supermetrics are not. Commands that pull data from several tools can also use more of your Claude usage.
  • Read before you install: The plugin is plain markdown and JSON under Apache-2.0, so you can audit it. Read the SKILL.md files and .mcp.json to see which servers and instructions you are adding.
  • Maintenance: The repository is changing fast, and its own README has already drifted from its contents. Re-check after updates.

Should you use the plugin or write your own Claude skills?

They are not competitors. The plugin gives you a working baseline in minutes; a custom skill takes hours but fits a specific, repeatable workflow. Both are editable text files. Install the plugin, then edit its skill files until they match how your team works. If you already have skills tailored to your process, keep them and use the plugin as a reference.

Next steps

Install the plugin with the two commands above. Add your brand voice and style guide before running /draft-content on anything client-facing. Test /brand-review on a piece you have already published and see whether it flags anything real. Then connect one tool at a time, starting with read-only access. Frequently Asked Questions

How do you install the Claude marketing plugin?

Run claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins, then claude plugin install marketing@knowledge-work-plugins. Anthropic fixed an incorrect install command in the per-plugin READMEs on 21 September 2026, so use these two steps.

Is the Claude marketing plugin free?

Yes. It is open source under the Apache-2.0 licence as part of Anthropic's knowledge-work-plugins repository. You still need access to Claude Code or Cowork, plus accounts for any tools you connect, such as Ahrefs, HubSpot or Klaviyo.

Does the Claude marketing plugin work in Claude Code or only in Cowork?

Both. The README says it is designed primarily for Cowork, Anthropic's agentic desktop app, and that it also works in Claude Code, where it installs with the two commands above.

What tools does the Claude marketing plugin connect to?

The README lists Slack, Canva, Figma, HubSpot, Amplitude, Notion, Ahrefs, Similarweb, Klaviyo and Supermetrics through MCP servers. The plugin's .mcp.json also includes Google Calendar and Gmail, and other tools in the same categories can be swapped in.

Do I need to write code to customise the Claude marketing plugin?

No. Commands and skills are markdown files and connectors are defined in a JSON file, so you can edit them as text. Configure your brand voice and style guide first, because the plugin has no default voice of its own.
